Samsung’s love affair with cheap, tacky plastic is on hold for its stunning new Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

Unveiled today at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the new handsets pull out all the stops in an effort to reverse Samsung’s declining smartphone sales and mount a new challenge against Apple’s most popular iPhones to date.

They sport all-new designs made out of premium materials, and vastly improved software that promises a better user experience. But they aren’t without their own compromises.

It's better than the real thing.

Samsung’s handy Toolbox feature, which made its debut inside Android 4.4 KitKat on the Galaxy S5, hasn’t really been reproduced inside other Android skins — not even Samsung’s latest devices have adopted it. But now you can get a third-party clone on almost any Android device.

Samsung’s major overhaul of the Galaxy S6 won’t stop at a brand-new design and vastly improved software. We’re also expecting the best internal components available, including a new rear-facing camera that will have a 20-megapixel sensor and optical image stabilization.

Of course, Samsung won’t confirm that until its Unpacked event on March 1, but the South Korean company has promised that you’ll get effortlessly “amazing pictures” from the Galaxy S6.

Samsung isn’t the only smartphone maker experiencing a decline in sales thanks to Apple’s latest iPhones. New data shows that the popularity of the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus caused Android sales to decline for the first time ever during the fourth quarter of 2014.

Sprint may have approved the One M7’s Lollipop update ahead of its successor’s, but the carrier hasn’t forgotten about the One M8. Those with HTC’s latest flagship can expect to get the release as soon as today, Sprint says.
