In case you haven’t heard, Google made a few changes to their privacy policy that has some people up in arms. No matter who you are, or what OS you use, chances are you use a Google product so this news is concerning. Now we say Google made changes but the reality of it is, Google didn’t really change much of anything. They haven’t changed what data they collect or any of your privacy settings. Everything remains the way it has always been, aside from the fact that they can now share your data across their own services. That means if you’ve been searching luxury cars on Google and head into Youtube, you’ll probably see video suggestions for Mercedes-Benz. To me, it’s more personalization rather than a cause for concern.

Starting April 5th, T-Mobile will begin capping the Domestic Roaming Data Allotment. Unlike their data throttling, once a user goes over their designated allotment, they will simply be cut off from data altogether, until they return to the T-Mobile network or connect via WiFi. While this change is unlikely to affect the majority of us (when’s the last time you used data while roaming?), T-Mobile will send out warnings via text message when your domestic roaming data allotment has reached both 80% and 100%.

Virgin Mobile began sending out text messages to high data consuming customers to warn them of their plans to implement data speed reductions in March. This comes as no surprise as Virgin Mobile actually considered throttling back in September, but for some reason decided to put the idea on hold. This time, it’s for real, and they plan on starting on March 23rd. If you’re a Virgin Mobile USA customer and use over 2.5GB of data in a month, expect your speeds to start slowing down (if that’s even possible).

Verizon’s 4G double data promo has been going strong for the past two months but it’s about to end. If you’ve been on the fence about switching to Verizon, you may want to take advantage of this deal while you still can. Unfortunately anyone signing up for data with Verizon must choose from a tiered data pricing option, and with the double data promo, Verizon will double the allotted data upon purchase of a 4G device.
