Back at Google I/O this year, the company showed off the ability to run Android apps on ChromeOS and Chromebooks natively. Today, Google has gone ahead and unveiled the first batch of Android apps to run on Chrome OS.

Acer has already produced some of the best Chrome OS notebooks to date, but its latest Chromebook 13 — the first Chromebook powered by an NVIDIA processor — blows the rest right out of the water. Starting at just $279, it combines the super snappy Tegra K1 chip with a high-resolution display and up to 32GB of solid-state storage.

Acer is adding two new Chromebooks to its C720 lineup this month — both of which are powered by fourth-generation Intel Core i3 processors. Prices will start at $350 for 2GB of RAM, while $380 will get you double that.

Who says Chromebooks are useless without an Internet connection? Not Google, which today announced that Chromebook users can now watch movies and TV shows offline using the new Play Movies & TV app for Chrome OS.

HP appears to be gearing up to launch a new Chromebook 11 that is already being sold in Australia ahead of its official unveiling. The new notebook is distinctly different to the existing Chromebook 11 in terms of design, looking instead like a smaller version of the Chromebook 14.
