One of the most highly anticipated Android tablets of the year, the ASUS Transformer Prime, went up for pre-order on Amazon last month. Amazon quickly sold out and soon began canceling some customers’ orders. Eventually the ASUS Transformer Prime completely disappeared from Amazon’s site never to be seen or heard of again — that is, until today. Amazon has reopened pre-orders for all four variants of the ASUS Transformer Prime and to make amends with customers who were left in the dark, they are also offering 1-day free shipping along with a $10 credit (only some customers are reporting the credit).

ASUS took to Facebook today to let users know that the Android 4.1 update would be hitting the Transformer Pad Infinity and Transformer Pad Prime soon and to “watch this space.” While that in itself is exciting news, knowing that an ASUS employee spilled the beans over at XDA yesterday — announcing that the update would be hitting U.S. and Canadian users within the next 72 hours — just intensifies our anticipation.

A few days back, ASUS announced it would be updating its Transformer Pad Infinity And Transformer Pad Prime. Users couldn’t wait to update to the latest and greatest version of Android, however, ASUS had to delay (if you could even call it that) the update for the Transformer Pad Infinity until today.

As promised, ASUS has begun rolling out Android 4.0 to Transformer owners in the US. It’s also been reported to be rolling out to Canadian users as well. As for the rest of the world, just be patient as ASUS is doing a superb job at delivering Ice Cream Sandwich to its users and you’re sure to be next. So go grab the update and start enjoying the latest and greatest Android OS.
