One of the highlights of Samsung’s London Premiere event that took place last night was the unveiling of the South Korean company’s first dual-OS tablet, the ATIV Q. As the name suggests, the product is part of Samsung’s ATIV line, which primarily has nothing to do with Android. However, on this occasion the goal was to “marry” both Android and Windows together to create the mother of all computing experiences.

During Google’s I/O keynote on Wednesday May 15th, 2013, they announced official beta testing through the Google Play Store – this means that Android developers no longer have to test their applications manually. Instead you can sign up to a beta testing group via the Play Store, and download the beta applications. The first application to take advantage of this opportunity is DashClock, releasing their latest beta widget.

Google is expected to start shipping the second iteration of its Nexus 7 tablet this fall, according to DigiTimes. Supply chain sources have indicated that the device will feature a 7-inch display and start going into production this summer. Factories overseas are expected to make about 8 million of the next-gen tablets for 2013.

The future of the Nexus 7 wasn’t addressed by Google at its I/O conference earlier this month, but the company is rumored to announce a white Nexus 4 phone and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean at a June 10th event. That would make for a good time to unveil a new Nexus tablet as well.

Asus could be gearing up to launch a second-generation Nexus 7 tablet in the coming months, according to sources in the company’s “upstream supply chain,” who also claim that the device will be followed by a new Intel-powered smartphone. Asus has already announced a number of new devices this year, but it seems it is nowhere near finished just yet.
