The entire future of the Android universe was just laid open for all to see as Google I/O kicked off this morning with a keynote at Moscone West.

Yes, there were juicy bits about the newest version of Android coming soon to a smartphone near you, but this year’s keynote was about so much more than mobile phones, as Google took aim at every “smart” category imaginable, from smartwatches to automobiles, cheap handsets to the biggest screen in your living room.

We just sat through the marathon keynote, and while we didn’t get a free Moto 360, we’ve digested, regurgitated, and spit out the hot mess of new Android features, APIs, cloud tools and wearable goodness, so you don’t have to.

Here’s everything you need to know about what Google revealed at I/O:

Google_glass

Just a few hours before Google I/O is scheduled to start, Google has gone ahead and announced a major software and hardware update for the Google Glass. On the hardware side, the company has bumped the RAM to 2GB to help alleviate all the performance issues Glass users frequently complained about.

Google-Now-cards

If you aren’t already using Google Now on your smartphone, you’re missing out on one of Android’s best features.

The smart assistant has been regularly updated and improved since it make its debut alongside Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and there are a myriad of useful Google Now cards that users now have access to. So whether you’re into sports or traveling, or you simply want the weather and your schedule at your fingertips, you should be using Google Now.

Google has today opened up its Glass Explorer Program to those in the United Kingdom. The device is available in five colors with free frames or shades, and it ships in 1-2 business days… if you can afford its hefty price tag.

The iPhone comes with a very handy kill switch which locks the handset in case a thief steals and then tries to factory reset it. While this kill switch will not help you in getting back your smartphone, it will at least allow you to “kill” it and protect your important data from prying eyes.

Now, in a statement issued to Bloomberg, Google has confirmed that it would be introducing a “factory reset protection solution” with the next version of Android .
