There’s no question Samsung has been the dominant force in the Android world. They’ve managed to nail multiple Nexus devices, and even managed to convince the world it needed a phablet. So it came as no surprise when Samsung announced record Q1 profits for 2012. Samsung pulled in nearly $40 billion in sales and a record $5.1 billion in operating profit (around $4.46 billion after taxes). Samsung has its mobile division to thank for the strong showing as it accounted for 78% of their profits. Samsung is banking on their upcoming Samsung Galaxy S III to push profits even higher in Q2 and they’re already saying it will be “our most successful smartphone ever.”

Twitter rolled out a new version of their Android and iOS apps today, improving on search, discovery, and notifications. In both apps, search has become increasingly easier thanks to spelling suggestions and related searches in search results. Username autocomplete in search has also been added, making finding someone extremely fast and less cumbersome. iPhone users will enjoy additional search improvements with a tap of the search box in Discover allowing them to see their most recent queries, as well as the ability to go directly to someone’s profile when searching for a username in Connect.

ZeptoLab recently updated their Cut The Rope app on both Android and iOS with a new DJ Box featuring 25 vinyl-scratching levels. Om Nom has been sitting idle long enough and he’s hungry and ready to party. These additional levels should keep you busy for about an hour and then it’s back to waiting.
