Today, Sony has officially announced that its latest flagship Android smartphone, the Xperia Z1, will be available to purchase on China’s largest nationwide operator, China Mobile, before the end of the month. sporting some pretty major design differences when compared to its International counterpart, however, it still packs much the same beefy internals apart from the built-in storage which is 32GB as opposed to 16GB on the global version.

Sony promised its Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the Xperia Z1 and the Xperia Z Ultra would arrive this month, and today it is delivering on that promise. The new software — complete with everything that’s new in Android 4.3 and much-improved Sony apps — is rolling out “right about now.”

Xperia-Z-Ultra-GPE

If you set up your new Google Play Edition Xperia Z Ultra by restoring from a backup of your previous Android-powered handset, you probably ended up with a whole bunch of apps you no longer use or need. But that’s okay, because you can just go through your app drawer and uninstall them all… right?

Wrong. It seems the new handset carries a frustrating bug that causes the handset to restart itself when its user attempts to uninstall an app.

Galaxy S4 GPE

Not long after Google started rolling out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the HTC One Google Play Edition, comes reports from several Galaxy S4 GPE (GT-i950G) owners informing us that they too are now receiving the much-anticipated 57.8MB update — which brings a multitude of security enhancements, bug fixes and speed optimizations but also removes the Apps Ops security app which Google says was “accidentally introduced”.

HTC-One-mini-display

HTC is today pushing out a rather large unexpected over-the-air update to all its unlocked One Mini handsets currently located in Hungary. According to the changelog, the upgrade brings Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and the latest version of Sense 5.5 to the device, together with a multitude of additional bug fixes, speed optimizations and stability improvements, as well as a bunch of new soundtracks for the built-in Video Highlights feature.
