Towards the end of last week, Google started rolling out the Android 4.4.4 update for the Nexus and Google Play edition devices. The update took many by surprise since the Internet giant had rolled out the much anticipated Android 4.4.3 update at the beginning of the month.

If you have recently purchased a brand new Xperia Z2 and are looking to root it, worry not as we have got you covered. Simply follow the steps mentioned below and you will be enjoying all the powers that root access brings on your Z2 in no time.

The update also brings an updated kernel and the latest system apps — as well as improvements to audio, the camera, and battery life. As with all third-party ROMs, however, you’ll need a custom recovery and S-OFF to flash it.
