Welcome to Monday’s Apps For Kids, a new Cult of Android feature where we take a look at kid-centric apps. Many of us are parents with kids who seem to know their way around our mobile devices better than we do. With the Android Market having over 400,000 apps, it can be quite a daunting task trying to find apps appropriate for our young tech enthusiasts. With Monday’s Apps For Kids, we hope to make that task easier by suggesting an array of topics and apps that have been kid tested and parent approved. So grab whatever crayon is lying around and get ready to write down a few apps worth checking out.


Sunday is generally a time when we relax and take a break from the hustle and bustle of work, news, and the whole craziness of weekday life. That’s why I figured Sunday would be a great day to reward our readers for making it through the week. Today, I’m proud to announce Cult of Android’s newest promo: Swag Sundays. We know how much you love Android, so why not show that pride with some swag. Every Sunday we’ll be giving readers a chance to win some sort of swag. Could be a t-shirt, a coffee mug, or simply a gift certificate to buy swag. We may ask you to do backflips through rings of fire to win this swag but we’re sure you can handle it.

It appears Rovio is running out of holidays in which to update their popular Angry Birds franchise with as they are now planning to send their angry aviators out into space. That’s right, the final frontier, to boldly go where no bird has gone before. Rovio is teaming up with NASA and National Geographic to release Angry Birds Space and we can only assume it will feature some anti-gravity maneuvers, green alien pigs, and warp drive slingshots.

It’s been a little over a week since HTC gave us an idea of which devices would be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich and when. Many were upset to see the HTC Thunderbolt missing from that list and it seems HTC didn’t want a riot on their hands as they’ve updated their list to now include the Thunderbolt. Today on Facebook, HTC announced a few more devices that will be getting Android 4.0 in the coming months. Devices include:

It’s only been 9 days since the last Transformer Prime update and ASUS is at it again. We’re not sure the specifics of this latest update but it appears to improve battery life. Most of their updates have been attempts to improve the Prime’s ongoing WiFi signal issues, but that doesn’t appear to be the case with this last update.
