Samsung’s latest smartphones are already off to a great start, with record pre-orders received for both the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge in the U.K., the company has confirmed today.

During the pre-order period for these devices, which began on February 21 and ended on March 10, sales were at least 2.5 times greater than those of any other Galaxy smartphone in the U.K.

“In the first two days of pre-order, Carphone Warehouse reported a 200% uplift in pre-orders for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, compared with the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge,” Samsung says.

“The unique design of the Galaxy S7 edge is also proving popular, with this device accounting for 61% of total European pre-orders to date.”

That’s pretty spectacular for flagship devices that come with premium price tags, but perhaps it’s not too surprising.

The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge improve upon the stellar smartphones Samsung launched in 2015 with a number of significant upgrades that make them well worth your hard-earned cash, including water-resistant designs, bigger batteries, better cameras, and expandable storage.

And while there were complaints from the Samsung faithful that some of these things were missing last year, it’s hard to find too many people criticizing the decisions Samsung has taken with the Galaxy S7 series.

“We are confident that our new flagship devices fulfil this need better than anything else available on the market,” said Conor Pierce, vice president of Samsung U.K.’s IT & Mobile Division.

“By creating a world of connected products and services through the Gear VR, Gear 360 and Samsung Pay, we are providing a highly-differentiated and richer experience for our consumers, a central part of our strategy.”

Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are available to purchase from carriers and retailers around the world today. Have you got yours yet?
