Verizon teases new Motorola Droid ‘dropping soon’

A new Motorola Droid is coming, and Verizon has already begun teasing it on Twitter ahead of its official release. The 11-second clip shows what we believe will be the Droid Turbo 2, which looks a lot like Motorola’s new Moto X Play.
According to recent rumors, the Droid Turbo 2 will actually be identical to the Moto X Play — but not exactly the same. It is expected come with a shatterproof display, which would explain why it is seen falling to the ground in this video, which ends with, “The new Droid is dropping soon.”

The Droid Turbo 2 is likely to be very similar to the Moto X Play on the inside, too, with a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor, 2GB of RAM, and Motorola’s impressive 21-megapixel rear-facing camera sensor.
Motorola and Verizon have already announced an event for Tuesday, October 27 in New York City, so we should find out about the Droid Turbo 2 then. The invite actually teased new “Droids” (plural), so this may not be the only handset to look forward to, either.
