Motorola’s upcoming 2015 Moto G promises to be a big improvement over its predecessors. Not only will it bring new internals, but also a refined form factor that, according to new leaked pictures, will boast an IPX7 water-resistance rating.

The images of the new Moto G above confirm a number of its specifications — including 4G LTE connectivity, a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a quad-core processor — as well as its IPX7 rating. But what exactly does that mean?

An IPX7 rating is essentially the same as the IP67 rating that’s offered by Sony’s Xperia smartphones, and Samsung’s Galaxy S5; it means the device can be submerged in up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes without sustaining any damage.

The only difference is, IP67 devices have been certified by the International Electrotechnical Commission, whereas IPX7 devices have not.

Motorola is expected to make the 2015 Moto G official during its New York City event on July 27. We have less than a week to wait before these rumors are confirmed, then.
