Amazon has knocked £30 ($49) off its 7-inch Wi-Fi Kindle Fire HDX tablets for a limited time in the United Kingdom. The discount makes the 16GB base model just £169 ($276), while the 32GB and 64GB models are now £199 ($326) and £229 ($375) respectively.

The deal runs from today until Thursday, January 2 — so you have just over two weeks to take advantage of it. The prices listed above relate to Kindle Fire HDX devices with “special offers” (sponsored screensavers), but you can pay £10 extra for each device (£179, £209, and £239) to have those removed entirely.

The Kindle Fire HDX is Amazon’s latest Kindle Fire tablet, and it’s considered one of the best 7-inch Android tablets available — mostly thanks to its 1920×1200 display which “significantly outperforms” that of the iPad Air according to recent tests carried out by DisplayMate.

The device also boasts a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, Adreno 330 graphics, and stereo speakers with Dolby Digital Plus technology.

But despite all these things, it seems the Kindle Fire HDX may not be selling quite as many units as Amazon would like. This isn’t the first time the retail giant has knocked down its price tag in an effort to increase sales; it also held a one-day sale earlier this month that offered the same £30 reduction on all models.
