$349 Moto X Deal Causes Motorola’s Website To Crash [Update]

If you woke up this morning planning to buy a new Moto X for $349 in Motorola’s Cyber Monday sale, then you’re probably feeling a little frustrated right about now at your lack of a new smartphone. But don’t worry — you’re not the only one.

It turns out the deal has been so popular that it has crushed Motorola’s website.

“Our website is down due to traffic & we’re working quickly to restore it,” Motorola confirmed in a message published on Twitter. “Watch here for updates & for when our Cyber Monday deal starts.”

It’s no wonder the deal has been attracting a lot of attention. Announced last week, it gives those buying a new Moto X off contract using the MotoMaker tool $150 off the device, making a 16GB handset just $349, and a 32GB handset just $399. The Moto X Developer Edition was also included in the deal, so its price tag would have been $399 instead of $549.

But as things stand, no one can take advantage of those offers, because no one can access the MotoMaker tool. We’re still waiting for Motorola to update us on the status of its site, but in the meantime, all you can do is sit tight and wait. After all, it’s not like you’re going to find a Moto X cheaper than this anywhere else — unless you don’t mind getting it on contract.

As soon as the site is back up, we’ll update this post.

UPDATE: Motorola’s MotoMaker site is now back up, and its Cyber Monday deal is live. Go get your $349 Moto X!
