Android 4.4 KitKat Hints Point To October 18 Launch

KitKat-teaser

Google has been teasing its upcoming Android 4.4 KitKat release on Google+, and it’s left us a rather obvious clue to the update’s release date. Prepare to be introduced to the new software — and possibly the first device that will run it (the Nexus 5) — before the end of the week.

Thanks to whispers that were going around the Google Launchpad developer event last week, we had expected Google’s big announcements to come this Tuesday, October 15. But of course, that didn’t happen, so the search giant now has us wondering again.

But the picture above, posted to the official Android 4.4 Google+ page with the tagline “Everybody Dance Now,” seems to suggest that the announcements will happen this Friday, October 18. That’s the date Gonna Make You Sweat — better known as Everybody Dance Now — was released by C+C Music back in 1990.

In case you need a reminder of that track:

Google loves to leave us with little Easter eggs and teasers, and this one seems a little too obvious to be a mere coincidence. So expecting something KitKat related this Friday. Our money is on its public unveiling alongside the new Nexus 5.
