If you’re a big Facebook user, you’re probably itching to get your hands on Facebook Home, the new Android launcher announced last week. It’s coming to Google Play on April 12, but it will only be compatible with five smartphones initially. But you can install a leaked Facebook Home beta on your Android smartphone today.

MoDaCo has leaked a pre-release version of Facebook Home, which is compatible with a wide range of smartphones, including the Nexus 4. Because it’s a pre-release version, it’s not all that reliable — certain features, including “Chat Heads,” don’t work — but it’ll give you a taste of what’s to come.

To get Facebook Home running, you need an Android smartphone with a maximum display resolution of 1280×768 — anything above that won’t work work; and you need to allow your device to install apps from unknown sources. You also need to ensure you uninstall the official Facebook and Facebook Messenger apps from your Android device.

Once you’ve done that, you can download and install Facebook Home from MoDoCo; just click the source link below. There are three APK files you’ll need to install altogether, but it’s a relatively simple process — I’ve even managed to do it myself.
