HTC’s Sense user interface is set to get a Material Design makeover for Android 5.0 Lollipop, leaked screenshots have confirmed. The Taiwanese company’s upcoming Sense 7 release will sport a fancy new font and new color schemes, improving its already impressive user interface design.

HTC has already vowed to provide speedy Lollipop updates, with its flagship One M8 and One M7 handsets scheduled to get the release within 90 days of its public debut. What’s been unclear up to this point, however, is just how significant the update will be for HTC handset owners.

Nexus users get to enjoy all of Google’s new features and its new Material Design makeover as intended. But when third-party user interfaces are involved — as they often are with third-party hardware — we’re never sure how well Google’s improvements will shine through unadulterated.

Fortunately, it seems HTC is making an effort to update Sense for Lollipop. The screenshots below, published by YouMobile, give us a brief glimpse at the redesign ahead of its official debut. It isn’t much, but it’s clear that it’s going to be pretty darn good-looking.

We’d expect nothing less from HTC software, of course. Although the company likes to make Android its own, it usually does so with style and subtlety, unlike some of its rivals (Samsung).

Given that HTC product leaks come thick and fast as we near an official unveiling, we can expect to see a lot more of Sense 7 over the coming weeks and months.
