Sealabox-under-water

mwc2013bug-coaBARCELONA, MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS — Here at MWC in Barcelona, Krussell is showing off its latest lineup of waterproof smartphones cases called Sealabox, which let you take your smartphone swimming to snap pictures of the fishes. Available for almost all common smartphones, the Sealabox is IPX7 certified for water resistance up to one meter, and it’s been carefully designed to allow you to make the most of your smartphone in almost any environment.

If you’ve been wondering where all of that water-repellant technology we’ve been seeing over the last year or two went, look no further than the Sony Xperia Tablet Z. You can dunk it in a fishbowl and it’ll keep on working just fine, or even use it in a pool for up to 30 minutes… as long as you don’t go below three feet.

Waterproof electronics don’t impress you? Fine. How about the fact that it’s the world’s thinnest tablet too, just 6.9mm thick and 495 grams light?

Xperia-E-dual

Sony has confirmed that its entry-level Xperia E Dual is making its way to the United States. The $199 device, which offers a 3.5-inch scratch-resistant display and dual-SIM functionality, will be shipping from March 3. Sony has begun accepting orders for the device via its online store.

Sony has today announced its Android 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrade plans for Xperia smartphones released during 2012. The Japanese company is hoping to deliver its latest software to at least six handsets by the end of March 2013, then another four handset in the “subsequent weeks.” There are four Xperia handsets that won’t be upgraded beyond Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, however.

While Sony’s latest crop of Xperia smartphones haven’t exactly been terrible, none of them really stand out up against devices like the Samsung Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II, and the HTC One X and Droid DNA. Despite this, the Japanese company has been able to cement itself in second place when it comes to Android market share — sitting right beneath Samsung.

Rumor has it that Sony’s now looking to take advantage of that position with a new flagship “Xperia 6” handset for 2013. In addition to a 6-inch 1080p display, the device is expected to offer a 13-megapixel camera, 3GB of RAM, and a sizable 3,500 mAh battery. What’s more, it won’t be the only new handset from Sony in early 2013.
