Sony-Xperia-T

O2 has begun rolling out the Sony Xperia T’s Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean upgrade, just a day after it was announced by Sony. The update brings a number of changes and improvements, including a bunch of new apps and some enhancements for the launcher.

Sony unveiled the Xperia Z, its latest flagship smartphone, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last week, and the device has been very well received. It looks good, and it has some great specifications. But there was one thing we didn’t like. The device is set to launch with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean — not Android 4.2, the latest release, which offers features like Daydream and lock screen widgets.

Thankfully, Sony has now confirmed that the Xperia Z will get the Android 4.2 update “shortly after launch.”

When Android 4.1 was released, Google introduced it’s own sound search widget to help users identify songs and direct them to Google Play to purchase them. It’s basically Google’s version of Soundhound or Shazam. It’s a great feature to have built into Android and it’s even better now that it’s built right into Google search. Now, Google has decided to release the standalone widget onto the Play store so that users running Android 4.0 can also enjoy it.
