Verizon has announced that the HTC Droid DNA will soon be getting its first software update, but it isn’t the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean upgrade you’ve been hoping for. It will deliver a slew of important bug fixes, however, improving sound quality and Wi-Fi connectivity, and allowing users to finally load videos in Hulu Plus.

HTC doesn’t normally update devices once they’ve reached a certain age — usually because they’re not powerful enough for the latest Android software — but it appears to be making an exception for the 2010 Verizon Droid Incredible. Don’t get too excited, it’s not getting Jelly Bean, but it is getting a much-needed fix to kill a random reboot issue.

Sprint has today announced its fourth quarter and full year financial results for 2012, and they don’t make for pleasant reading. Despite healthy smartphone sales driven by the iPhone, the carrier reported a loss of $1.3 billion for during the three-month period, which is the same figure it lost during Q4 2011. It also saw more than 1 million Nextel subscribers jumping ship.

We’ve heard whispers that Google is planning to wow us with a new smartphone built by Motorola, and the latest claims that the device will get its grand unveiling at Google I/O in May. Called the Motorola X, the device is expected to offer stock Android and a modest price tag, but it won’t be a successor to the Nexus 4. It will reportedly launch in July when it will be available on contract with all major carriers, or unlocked through the Google Play store.

Verizon has today announced its financial results for the fourth quarter of 2012, which has been its best yet in terms of subscriber growth. The company added 2.1 million new customers during the three-month period, bringing its total number of subscribers up to 98.2 million, with 58% of those customers using a smartphone.
