Now that unlocking your phone is legal in the United States, carriers have no choice but to let you use your device with other service providers as soon as your contract is up. T-Mobile is preparing to make it super simple for you to do that by pre-installing an unlocking app on your device that will remove its shackles as soon as it is eligible.

T-Mobile has today announced that it’s teamed up with Samsung to exclusively launch a brand new, mid-range smartphone that won’t break the bank. The Galaxy Avant can be yours for $0 up front, followed by $9 per month for the next 24 months, or for $216 outright on a prepaid plan with no strings attached.

Six months after it was initially announced, Sony has finally released the Xperia Z1 Compact in the United States. The handset will not be available via any carrier but instead users will directly have to shell out $550 to buy it unlocked from Sony’s own US web store.

The LG G3 is finally coming to the United States on July 16th, provided you are a T-Mobile customer. The handset is already up for sale in Korea and recently went on sale in some other Asian markets of the world, but is yet to hit the shelves in other major markets of the world.

The Nexus 5 and the Nexus 7 will be the first devices to receive Google’s new Android 4.4.3 update today, according to T-Mobile. The release, which will roll out over-the-air, and brings important security enhancements and bug fixes.
