When Apple finally unveiled the iPad Mini, it was quite obvious they missed the mark. Instead of offering up the 7-inch tablet killer many tech pundits expected, Apple essentially revealed a smaller iPad 2 with specs that failed to compete with the likes of the Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire HD. The best part of the announcement came in the price. Not only did Apple release an inferior product, but they went ahead and priced it well above its competitors!

When life gives you apples, make applesauce — at least, that seems to be the philosophy of the giant, terrifying Android robot on today’s t-shirt from TeeFury.

While Google had plans of unveiling the next set of Nexus devices in NYC this Monday, Mother Nature appears to have other plans. Hurricane Sandy threatens to bombard the East Coast with high winds and unrelenting rainfall. Instead of risking lives, Google has made the right decision to cancel the event. We’re uncertain what this means for the launch of the Nexus 4, Nexus 10 and 32GB Nexus, but Google promises to let us know as soon as they make a decision.

[Update: I’m sad to report our Pumpkin Carving Contest has been cancelled due to lack of participation. We’ll just have to think of something a bit less challenging next time.]

As Halloween approaches, some of us will be ghouling up our houses with spider webs, corpse limbs, and the quintessential carved pumpkin. Since we love Android, and we’re pretty sure you do too, we thought it’d be cool to combine the fun of Halloween pumpkin carving with our affinity for Android. Before I get into details, let me just say this will be all about fun, so don’t worry if you’re not the most skilled pumpkin carver.

Want to know why Apple doesn’t use NFC? Because no one at Apple has as cool a wife as the one in Samsung’s latest Galaxy S III commercial. Samsung shows off the spicy side of their S-Beam feature (you know, “that thing”), which uses NFC and Wi-Fi Direct to “beam” content between compatible devices.
