If you haven’t heard of South Korea-based bCoda before, that’s OK — neither had we before we got this press release about their first pair of stateside products.

The Bluetooth-equipped CODA One looks like a phone handset, and it sort of functions the same way — only it’s cordless. If you’re juggling lattes, you can also set it down on your desk and use it as a hands-free speakerphone. Bells and whistles include noise-reduction and echo-cancellation, a large battery with a meaty 20 hours of talk time and the ability to pair with up to eight devices.

mwc2013bug-coaBARCELONA, MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS — Chip maker Qualcomm has teamed up with DoubleTwist, the creator of one of the most popular media players for Android, to develop a new media streaming service called MagicPlay. The open source protocol will allow any Android device to stream media — including music, movies, and photos — to anything with a Qualcomm chip running the AllJoyn protocol, competing with existing streaming services like DLNA.

O2 has begun rolling out the Sony Xperia T’s Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean upgrade, just a day after it was announced by Sony. The update brings a number of changes and improvements, including a bunch of new apps and some enhancements for the launcher.

Those wasted journeys can now become a thing of the past, thanks to Blockbuster’s new Android app. Find the movie you want to see, and the app will tell you whether your local Blockbuster store has it.

Barnes & Noble has launched its Nook Video service in the United Kingdom today, bringing digital movies and TV shows to its Nook HD and Nook HD+ tablets. In addition to fresh content from BBC Worldwide, HBO, Sony Pictures, Warner Bros. Entertainment, and more, users will gain access to UltraViolet versions of their existing DVD and Blu-ray purchases.
