Android App Revenue

According to a new report from IDC and App Annie, Android managed to quadruple revenue generated from games in Q4 2013, while iOS doubled its numbers from the same period in 2012. Google Play games reportedly made as much as handheld consoles such as the Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation Vita etc.

Amazon Coins

Amazon has just announced the expansion of its virtual currency system, Amazon Coins, to the entirety of the Android ecosystem. Amazon Coins were previously limited to users of Amazon’s own Kindle Fire tablets, but now it doesn’t matter what kind of device you have.

Google released five simple games for Glass, the company’s buzz-worthy wearable computing device.

In a post on the Glass Developers blog, a spokesperson wrote, “We hacked together five simple games that experiment with the unique features of Glass and demonstrate some of the possibilities for gaming.”

With Tennis, Balance, Clay Shooter, Matcher, and Shape Splitter, Google is making a play for the profitable mobile game market, one that regularly outpaces both traditional gaming revenue as well as other forms of media.
