Earlier today, an unannounced Samsung smartphone passed through South Korea’s official certification authority — the RRA (Radio Research Agency). Information included in the brief filing documentation reveals that we could potentially be looking at the upcoming Galaxy S5 Prime (SM-G906) — a revamped model of the company’s flagship smartphone of 2014.

Samsung has made the Galaxy Note’s display slightly bigger — 0.2 inches bigger, to be exact — every year, but at some point, that has to stop. If it doesn’t, the device ends up stepping into Galaxy Mega territory, and Samsung could begin to drive away Galaxy Note fans who are happy with its existing size.

If you’re one of those users, here’s a bit of good news: A source familiar with Samsung’s plans claims that the Galaxy Note 4 will have a 5.7-inch display just like its predecessor, but it will be treated to a super-duper sharp 2K upgrade.

Galaxy-S5-back

It was just over a week after the Galaxy S5 went on sale worldwide that we first heard rumors of a “premium” model that would soon be following it, and since then, the “Galaxy S5 Prime” moniker has been popping up all over the place. It has appeared yet again this week in the unlikeliest of places.
