Motorola has confirmed that the Moto X will receive an Android L upgrade after the software makes its public debut this fall. The company has been incredibly quick to roll out Android updates for all Moto devices in recent months — much quicker than its competitors — and it has become a major selling point for the latest Motorola smartphones.

LG-G-Pad-7

AT&T today announced that it will be offering the LG G Pad 7.0 from Friday, August 8. Those who purchase the device on a two-year contract will pay just $149.99 upfront, but if you’d rather avoid the commitment, it’ll cost you $249.99 — $100 more than the Wi-Fi only model.

ART-runtime

When Android L gets its public release this fall, Google will kill off the Dalvik runtime that has traditionally been the default for its popular platform and switch over to ART. Most modern devices already allow you to make this change yourself — but not all are completely ART-compatible just yet.

For instance, ART should be avoided on the LG G3, unless you don’t mind breaking things.

Amazon has released its first commercial for the Fire Phone, and it’s focused on the free 12-month Prime subscription that comes bundled with it. There’s also a brief mention of some of the apps that will be available for the device at launch, including Skype, Twitter, and Minecraft.

The midrange HTC Desire 610 is coming to AT&T this month, and it will sell for just $200 off-contract. It delivers HTC’s excellent build quality, front-facing speakers, and an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera — and it will be available on Friday, July 25.
