Well that didn’t take long. It’s only been three days since Rovio teased us with the possibility of an Angry Birds Star Wars game, and today, it’s official. Rovio has announced that they will be launching Angry Birds Star Wars worldwide on Novemeber 8th and a barrage of merchandise starting October 28th (in time to get your kids into Angry Birds Star Wars costumes).

Rovio sent out a tweet today teasing their “next big thing” (who do they think they are… Samsung?). The tweet links to a Tumblr page featuring an animated gif of a Jedi Angry bird holding a lightsaber (the one you see above). Other than the Star Wars reference, there doesn’t seem to be much information. Whatever they have planned, it looks like it will be going down in New York on October 8th, at 10am EST as the only information listed is as follows:

I know what I’m doing this weekend.

Millions of us have spent many hours trying to eliminate those pesky green pigs in Rovio’s Angry Birds series, but now it’s time to switch teams. Rovio just released Bad Piggies on Android, iOS, Mac, and PC. And for the first time ever you’re joining the pigs on their mission to steal as many eggs as they can get their hooves on.

The “bad piggies” have something diabolical planned, and whatever it is, it’s PIG, erm… BIG! They’ve started their social networking campaign and even “Haz a Facebook.” Now we’ve got a teaser video of what appears to be an incoming spin-off to the Angry Birds phenomenon. Perhaps it’s time for the pigs to finally have their day. We’re just going to have to wait and see, for now, here’s the teaser video.

Announced in early May, Amazing Alex is Rovio’s first venture away from Angry Birds since the title became a huge hit on iOS many moons ago. Based on the company’s previous success in the mobile gaming space, we’re all itching to see how its next release turns out, but the new teaser trailer Rovio released today gives us very little to go on.

In addition to the 20-second clip, however, the Finnish firm has also announced some more details about the physics-based puzzler.
