Motorola is now in the process of rolling out the much-anticipated Android 4.4.2 KitKat update to all the scaled-down variants of its flagship smartphone, the Moto G, in Europe. The upgrade is a relatively minor bump up from 4.4, and it doesn’t pack much in terms of new functionality, but it does bring a multitude of bug fixes, stability improvements and speed optimizations.

The future looks grim for Microsoft. The world is quickly turning mobile and post-PC, two categories Microsoft hasn’t succeeded in.

Recent reports from Gartner and IDC show just how dire the situation is. PC sales, which are directly tied to sales of Microsoft Windows, are in a free fall. Between 2012 and 2013, PC sales dropped by 10% (that’s 35 million fewer PCs).

Gartner says only 15% of Internet-connected devices sold in 2014 will run Windows.

That’s Windows’ real market share: 15%.

Having tried everything else, maybe the solution for Microsoft is to be a software company. That would mean embracing Android with everything they’ve got.

Every month, Google updates the Android’s platform distribution data to reflect the most popular version of Android that has accessed Play Store over a period of 7 days. The numbers for the 1st week of January are in and they don’t really show any surprise.

Samsung unveiled its ultra-portable Galaxy Tab 3 variant, the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0, back in June, 2013, and a month later the device was available to purchase in the U.S. from several retailers for $299. However, if you haven’t had the opportunity to pick one up before now, you may be excited to hear that Amazon is currently offering the device with an $34 discount.

Vodafone U.K. has announced that it will be adding Motorola’s latest budget-friendly smartphone, the Moto G, to its rapidly growing lineup of Android-powered handsets.

Unfortunately, the carrier has not yet announced any pricing for this device as it’s holding back that information for the official launch, though we suspect it will be somewhere in the region of £120, seeing as that’s the price independent retailer, Phones 4U, is currently offering the device for on a Vodafone Simplicity tariff.
