Hulu is hoping to make this holiday season a special one for Android users by giving them the ability to stream shows for free, without a Hulu Plus subscription. The current seasons of shows like South Park, Gotham, The Tonight Show and Brooklyn Nine-Nine are all free to watch for a limited time — but only if you live in the U.S.

Google has updated its incredibly popular Chromecast to add a new guest mode that allows anyone in the room to stream content to your device without having to connect to your Wi-Fi network. The Chromecast companion app for Android has also been given a Material Design makeover, while its screen casting feature is now officially in beta with support for a wider range of devices.

Anyone that has ever taken a look at Xiaomi’s suspiciously Apple-like designs won’t be surprised to hear them dismissed as ripoff artists. But a new court ruling suggests they might be patent infringers too.

Delhi High Court in India has banned Xiaomi from selling, assembling, importing and advertising its smartphones in the country, on the basis that the bestselling handsets infringe on certain patents held by another company.

Interestingly, that company isn’t Apple — but rather Ericsson, which claims that Xiaomi violated 8 of its patents, including those related to 3G, EDGE and other technologies.

Google announced its biggest Android Wear update yet on Wednesday, which finally delivers a dedicated custom watch face API that allows developers and designers to build news faces with greater functionality. But it’s not all good news; Google says the custom watch faces you’ve already been using will be pulled if they aren’t updated to use the new API.

Android 5.0.1 has been available for over a week for a number Nexus devices — but only if you were willing to download the factory images and flash them manually. Now Google’s rolling out its latest Lollipop update — which brings improved stability and performance — over the air.
