Android 4.4 Canada HTC One Status

This weekend, HTC Canada updated its webpage with some pretty exiting news for on-contract HTC One owners who are champing at the bit to get the much-anticipated Android 4.4 KitKat software version on their handsets. As of today, Bell, Roger (who are also working to certify the latest upgrade for the One mini), TELUS, Virgin Mobile, Wind and SaskTel are all working around the clock to certify the latest upgrade. So, presuming no problems are detected, we only have a couple more days to wait for the rollout to begin.

Samsung has today announced that it will hold a press event in Barcelona on Sunday, February 23 — the day before Mobile World Congress 2014. But this is not the Galaxy S5 event some of you may have been expecting; Samsung plans to unveil its first Tizen-powered devices instead.

According to Terence Eden, a renowned technology enthusiast and researcher, Google Calendar users are currently experiencing a relatively major and potentially embarrassing bug, which could lead to private events being revealed in third-party applications, published on your social networking feeds or even shared with a complete stranger via email.

In a tweet published earlier today, HTC U.S.A revealed that the much-anticipated Android 4.4 KitKat update for all Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile branded handsets of its flagship smartphone, the One, has just entered carrier labs for final testing, and we should be seeing certification as early as next week (certification is the third of four necessary stages involved in pushing out an OTA). So, hopefully, presuming no problems are detected, we only have a couple more days until the over-the-air upgrade starts arriving on our devices.
