Google has today published two new adverts for its new Nexus 7, two months after the original made its YouTube debut. Both clips showcase the tablet’s ability to be a great tool for students — but in unique ways you may not have thought of before.

Sony has today launched the Xperia Z1, the Xperia Z Ultra, and the SmartWatch 2 in the United States as it looks to step up its pursuit of Samsung. All three devices can be purchased directly from Sony’s online store, from select Sony retail stores throughout the U.S., and from some third-party electronics retailers.

The official American Airlines app has received a rather nifty update on Google Play, bringing along with it a much needed completely redesigned user interface, the automatic assigning of seats and a multitude of bug fixes and stability improvements.

LG has today announced that its new G Pad 8.3 tablet is coming the U.K. and Ireland before Christmas. The device will be available for around £260 ($414), which makes it just £60 more expensive than Google’s new 16GB Nexus 7. That’s not bad when you consider the G Pad 8.3 has a bigger display, a bigger battery, and a faster processor.

Just a week or so ago, we quoted a Square Enix producer saying that there were a lot of fans in the offices who wanted to see a Final Fantasy VII port happen. But don’t hold your breath, as millions of fans appear to have done, promting Square Enix to set the record straight: it’s years away from happening, if ever.
