Acer

Just a couple of days after its press conference at CES 2014 in Las Vegas, Acer unveiled its latest ultra-affordable Android powered tablet, the Tab 7, as a cheaper alternative to its mid-range Iconia A1-830, which was showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show. Samsung unveiled its ultra-portable Galaxy Tab 3 variant, the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0, back in June, 2013, and a month later the device was up for grabs in the United Kingdom from several retailers for £179. The Nexus 5 launched back in November, 2013, and was available from T-Mobile just two weeks later for the upfront fee of $41.99 with 24 monthly payments of $17, making the phones overall cost $450. However, yesterday, the operator announced that it has now reduced the price of the handset down to $16.50 per month, with no upfront cost — so it will currently cost you $396 in total.

Moto-G

Motorola is now in the process of rolling out the much-anticipated Android 4.4.2 KitKat update to all the scaled-down variants of its flagship smartphone, the Moto G, in Europe. The upgrade is a relatively minor bump up from 4.4, and it doesn’t pack much in terms of new functionality, but it does bring a multitude of bug fixes, stability improvements and speed optimizations.
