WhatsApp just crossed a staggering milestone

Over 1 billion people around the world are using WhatsApp every single day.

The insanely popular messaging service, which was acquired by Facebook in 2014, is now processing over 55 billion messages, 4.5 billion photos, and 1 billion videos per day.

WhatsApp made its debut on iPhone in 2009, just a year after the App Store opened its doors. It didn’t have a great deal of competition back then, and it quickly became popular as it expanded its reach to additional platforms, like Android and Windows Phone.

Last year, WhatsApp revealed that one billion people were using its service every month. Now the same number of people are using the service every day to keep in touch with friends and family around the world.

WhatsApp has continued to be a major player in the messaging market over the years by adding important new features to its service, like voice and video calling, file sharing, end-to-end encryption, desktop support, and more.
