Google has promised to release software updates that will address a color issue on its latest Nexus devices. The Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, and Nexus Player have all suffered washed-out colors with the latest version of Android — but only while watching video.

“As soon as the player starts playing a video (no matter which – either Netflix, Cast video, Archos, etc.) the black color gets washed out and gray instead of black,” explains one user on the Android Issue Tracker forum, who says the issue is noticeable under all Android 6.0 releases.

“On my Nexus 6P the original MDA89D build didn’t have this issue, but flashing the 3 other images shows the issue,” writes another. “It’s especially bad on AMOLED screens as the RGB value 0/0/0 should turn the screen off completely, this this doesnt [sic] and is washed out.”

The image below demonstrates the issue.

Fortunately for those with a Nexus device, Google has already acknowledged this issue — and eliminated it for Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, with a patch coming in the next update. The company also says it is “working as fast as possible to resolve it” on the Nexus Player.
