Sony has released a list of Xperia devices that are getting an Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade — and it’s not good news for those with an Xperia Z1.

There aren’t too many surprises in Sony’s list; the new Xperia Z5 family is at the top of it as you would expect, and it’s joined by the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2 families. But Sony has decided it’s the end of the road for the Xperia Z1, which made its debut in September 2013.

Here’s all the devices that will be upgraded:

  • Xperia Z5
  • Xperia Z5 Compact
  • Xperia Z5 Premium
  • Xperia Z4 Tablet
  • Xperia Z3+
  • Xperia Z3
  • Xperia Z3 Compact
  • Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact
  • Xperia Z2
  • Xperia Z2 Tablet
  • Xperia M5
  • Xperia C5 Ultra
  • Xperia M4 Aqua
  • Xperia C4

“We’ve been working hard to bring this major update to as many of our devices as possible, as quickly as we can,” Sony says. “We’re really excited about the new Sony features & functionality and the improvements we’ve made to the user experience – and we’ll be sharing more soon.”

There is no timeline for these updates right now, then, but thanks to Sony’s new approach to Android software — which is to make only minor changes and leave most things as Google intended them — it shouldn’t take too long to optimize Marshmallow for these devices.

When Sony begins rolling out its Android 6.0 upgrades, we’ll be sure to let you know.
