Despite scaling back its hardware division in a big way, Amazon is hard at work on a new Fire tablet with a 10-inch display that just leaked out ahead of its official unveiling.

There’s not a whole lot to know about the 10-inch Fire tablet at the moment, but it’s clear from the leaked image above that the device is sporting a redesigned form factor that looks a lot like a super-sized Fire phone, with a glossy plastic back (as opposed to glass).

The device also looks to be running much-improved Fire OS software that looks ever so slightly more like stock Android (though not enough). There’s no sign of any Google apps in the screenshots above, however.

The image above comes from reliable leaker Evan Blass (@evleaks on Twitter), so we have no reason to believe it’s not genuine. However, there’s no word yet on when or even if Amazon will be making this tablet official.
