HTC One M9 gets user profiles, display color controls in custom Android 5.1 ROM

A new custom ROM for the HTC One M9 brings a number of exciting Lollipop features that aren’t yet built into the handset’s firmware by default. Among them is support for multiple user profiles and native display color controls, and you can get your hands on them now.

The latest version of the Maximus HD ROM, from popular HTC ROM developer LlabTooFer, has all of these features built-in — as well as improved volume controls with a Do Not Disturb option, and some other Sense 7 interface improvements.

The ROM also promises increased performance and better battery life, and it makes some camera improvements that should result in better photos. Other changes include the removal of the Fitbit, Google Docs, and Google Sheets apps.

Maximus HD is widely regarded as one of the best ROMs for One-series smartphones. Based on HTC’s own Sense software, it offers all of the features you expect from a stock device, as well as many more you don’t get as standard.

As with any custom ROM, you’ll need a custom recovery to install this software — as well as S-OFF — and flashing it will wipe your data, so be sure to backup first.
