HTC promises better BoomSound speakers for One M9

HTC’s BoomSound speakers are already the best smartphone speakers you can get — by far. But the Taiwanese company promises it’ll deliver an even “bigger boom” with the One M9, which makes its debut at Mobile World Congress next week.

There are lots of things I love about last year’s One M8, but aside from its design, it’s the BoomSound speakers that really stand out. They’re just fantastic; they’re not only loud but they also sound terrific, and they’re totally unmatched by any other smartphone.

Once you’ve become accustomed to BoomSound speakers, it’s hard to go back to a smartphone without them. Thankfully for those upgrading to the One M9, you won’t have to, because HTC’s new device will have BoomSound, and it’ll be better than ever before.

“Get your hands on bigger boom,” HTC Ireland tweeted this week. The message came with a video that teases the company’s One M9 announcement in Barcelona on March 1.

While its BoomSound speakers might be improved, however, the One M9 is expected to do a better job of concealing them. Instead of the countless tiny holes seen on the One M8 and other HTC devices, it is expected to sport more subtle speaker grilles.

The One M9 is also likely to bring other design improvements, and of course, better specifications. Recent rumors have promised Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM, and a much-improved, 20-megapixel rear-facing camera.

It may not be the only new device HTC announces next week, either. Leaked renders have suggested we’re also going to get a One M9 Plus with a fingerprint scanner, and HTC’s promise of “something HUGE” would appear to confirm its impending arrival.
