CyanogenMod founder Steve Kondik has been working with OnePlus on the company’s upcoming smartphone for months, and in a new teaser video uploaded to YouTube this week, he finally gets to see the new handset himself for the first time.

You can enjoy the “unboxing” video yourself below, but before you dive in, you should probably prepare yourself for disappointment.

Technically, this is an unboxing video, as the title claims. Steve pulled the manuals and some other things out of the OnePlus One’s neat little box — but we didn’t get to see the thing we’re all most interested in. But of course, that’s what these teaser videos are all about.

OnePlus has already done a great job of hyping up its new smartphone by gradually releasing new details every week, and videos like this one only add to the suspense. Let’s just hope the One makes it all worthwhile when it gets its official unveiling on April 23.

It certainly has the specifications required to compete with this year’s flagships. It’s powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor — the same processor that’s packed into the Galaxy S5 and the HTC One M8 — and that’s accompanied by a 5.5-inch 1080p display, and a massive 3,100mAh battery.

Other highlights include a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture, and interchangeable back covers similar to those that have proven so popular with Moto X fans. The One will also be one of the world’s first smartphones to be available with CyanogenMod pre-installed.

What’s more, the device will be priced at just $400, which will make it substantially cheaper than its rivals.
