Galaxy S5’s First Official ROM Now Available To Download

Galaxy-S5-hands-on

We may have another three weeks to wait before the Samsung Galaxy S5 goes on sale, but that hasn’t stopped its firmware from being leaked online. The first official Galaxy S5 ROM — based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat — is available to download now.

You may think that without a Galaxy S5, an official ROM is largely useless. And you’d be somewhat correct. But these firmware dumps give developers the opportunity to extract all sorts of goodies from Samsung’s latest software that we don’t need a Galaxy S5 to enjoy.

Some of the company’s new apps have already made their way out into the wild for existing Galaxy smartphone users, and we should see a lot more of those in the days and weeks ahead. We should also get ringtones and wallpapers, and maybe even Samsung’s latest TouchWiz launcher.

For anyone who’s interested in the Galaxy S5, then, this is exciting stuff. We can’t wait to see what comes out of this leak, and we’ll be sure to report anything that’s interesting — so keep your eye on the site for updates. In the meantime, you can download the firmware by following the source link below.
