Samsung Offering $205,000 In Prizes In Galaxy Note S Pen App Challenge

In an effort to make the stylus cool again, Samsung has announced its latest developers challenge for apps that integrate the S-Pen on the Galaxy Note. Up for grabs is $205,000 in cash and prizes as well as exposure and recognition in Samsung digital social media. All developers have to do is use the Samsung S Pen SDK to integrate S Pen functionality into a new or existing Android app that runs on Galaxy Note. This is a great way to attract development for S-Pen integrated apps and an even better way for developers to stand out in what seems like an abyss of apps.

The challenge has already started and requires all submissions to be in by April 2, 2012 at 5:00 PM EDT. Developers retain all rights to their submitted apps and can sell them or offer them for free as they would normally do. Judging will take place the week after the end of the challenge and prizes will be awarded as follows:

  • Best Overall App, Grand Prize – $100,000
  • Best Overall App, Second Prize – $50,000
  • Best Overall App, Third Prize – $25,000
  • Category Honorable Mention (10) – $2,000 and a Samsung Galaxy Note (estimated retail value, plus tax and shipping $800)
  • Popular Choice Award – $2,000

I love seeing stuff like this, it’s great for the ecosystem as a whole and is a great way to reward developers for their excellent work. If you’re interested in entering the challenge, follow the source link below for the full details. Good luck!
