HTC has today begun issuing invitations to a number of launch events for its new One Max phablet. The first will be held in Hong Kong on Wednesday, October 16 — while another will take place two days later in HTC’s homeland of Taiwan.

“One finger opens up a big view,” the invitation reads. “You are invited to immerse in the sound with us.”

Of course, the first line clearly references the One Max’s fingerprint scanner, and its massive display, which is expected to measure between 5.7 and 6 inches diagonally. The second line also points to its front-facing BoomSound speakers, which first made their debut on the flagship HTC One earlier this year.

The One Max will be hoping to compete with other high-end phablets like the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the Sony Xperia Z Ultra. From what we know about it so far, it certainly has the necessary specifications to do that, but for inexplicable reasons, most consumers just don’t seem to be all that into HTC.

We’re also expecting HTC to announce One Max launch events for the U.S. and Europe, so be on the lookout for updates later today.
