The Galaxy S II Plus Gets Android 4.2.2, Before The Galaxy S III & Galaxy Note II

Samsung has begun rolling out its Android 4.2.2 update for the Galaxy S II Plus, much to the bemusement of users with the Galaxy S III and the Galaxy Note II. Those devices are still waiting to be upgraded from Android 4.1, and given that they were both flagships last year, it’s a little surprising that they’re still waiting to get the latest version of Jelly Bean.

The update was first spotted by German blog All About Samsung, and it brings all of the improvements you’d expect to see in an Android 4.2.2 update, including new TouchWiz features. It’s rolling out in Germany right now — where Samsung’s software updates normally land first — so you can expect to see it reaching other markets in the coming weeks.

So what about the Galaxy S III and the Galaxy Note II? Well, they may never see Android 4.2.2. Rumor has it that Samsung will skip this release and update these devices straight to Android 4.3 instead — which is the latest Android release announced by Google just last week.

Samsung hasn’t confirmed that yet, but one Australian carrier has, the update has already been spotted on a Galaxy S III. Don’t be too disappointed that your Galaxy S III or Galaxy Note II is still waiting for an update, then. Before too long, you should be running Android 4.3.
