Sprint Announces Their Affordable Honeycomb Tablet The ZTE Optik, Available February 5th For $99 On Contract

Sprint is hoping to get in on the budget tablet market with its latest announcement of the ZTE Optik, a 7″ Honeycomb tablet that they will be offering for $99 with a 2-year agreement. Contracts aren’t for everybody, but if you don’t mind them, you can get a pretty decent tablet for under $100. The ZTE Optik will be available February 5th and will feature:

  • 7-inch display at 1280×800 resolution
  • Android 3.2 Honeycomb (No mention of an Android 4.0 upgrade)
  • Dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor at 1.2GHz
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16GB storage
  • GPS
  • Wifi (802.11 b/g)
  • 4,000 mAh battery
  • Bluetooth 2.1+EDR
  • Stereo speakers

$99 is a pretty good price for those specs, but then of course you’ll be tied to a 2-year contract and we all know those specs will seem primitive in two years time. If you’re interested in the ZTE Optik without the contract, it will cost you $349.99. If the ZTE Optik sounds like something you’d be interested in, you’ll be able to grab it in just a few days.
