Google’s second-generation Nexus 7 tablet is right around the corner, and these official press shots that have been leaked online today show us exactly what it’s going to look like.

It’s not vastly different to its predecessor, but you’ll notice right away that there are a number of external improvements, including a rear-facing camera and a notification LED.

The Nexus 7 II actually looks slightly longer than the original; while the bezels down the sides of its display appear narrower, those above and below the screen certainly seem bigger. We were hoping that the device would be smaller all round, but the improvements Google has made internally will surely make up for the size of this device.

In addition to a new 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, the Nexus 7 II is expected to offer a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, up to 4GB of RAM, 16GB and 32GB storage options, and a much-improved 1980×1200 LCD display. The device is also expected to be one of the first to run Android 4.3.

And we expect to see its unveiling — alongside Android 4.3 — at Google’s press event on Wednesday, July 24. These leaked press shots, which were obtained by the ever reliable @evleaks, prove its launch is very close.
