The HTC One is set to receive its Android 4.2.2 update in mid-June, according to HTC Russia head Kormiltsev Andrey. The device launched with Android 4.1.2 pre-installed, but HTC promised back in April that an update to the latest Android release wasn’t far away.

This will be a notable upgrade to the HTC One, as we reported earlier this week when the update’s new features were leaked. Users can look forward to things like lock screen widgets and Daydream, as well as some improvements to Sense 5.

Of course, when HTC releases the One Google Edition with Android 4.3, the regular One will be a little outdated yet again. But at least the Taiwanese company is working to get its releases out to the One quicker than it has for previous devices.

If Andrey’s information is correct, then, One users should get the Android 4.2.2 update in just over a week. We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled and our fingers on that software update button, and we’ll let you know as soon as it’s available.
