Samsung Planning ‘Ruggedized’ Galaxy S4 That’s Both Dust & Water Resistant

If there’s one thing we know about Samsung, it’s that the company just cannot stop rolling out new smartphones. Seriously, I can’t remember the last time a month went by when Samsung didn’t announce a new phone. It’s no surprise to me, then, that the Korean company is already planning a second Galaxy S4 variation, but in this case, I think it’s acceptable.

The new model will be a “ruggedized” version of Samsung’s new flagship that’s both dust and water resistant.

That’s according to TechView.me, which cites Samsung Gulf president Young Soo Kim as its source.

At a press conference today Samsung Gulf unveiled the Galaxy S4 and we have already covered that here. But during the QnA session, Young Soo Kim – President Samsung Gulf – said that a ruggedized Samsung S4 which would be water proof and dust proof is in the works and will be announced in the coming weeks.

Young Soo Kim’s announcement came in response to a question about a waterproof version of the Galaxy S4, according to the report.

I think a ruggedized version of the Galaxy S4 is an awesome idea. There are plenty of people out there who work in environments where average smartphones just don’t last — can you imagine how a regular Galaxy S4 would fair on a dusty construction site? And most of the ruggedized handsets that are already available aren’t all that good.
