You know when you’re rushing to catch the train or the Starbucks barista is shouting at you to collect your coffee, but you need to jot down something important before you forget it? Well, Microsoft has the perfect app for that.

It’s called Parchi, and it’s a lightweight note-taking app that makes it faster and easier than ever to save the things that are most important to you.

You may already be using a note-taking app like Evernote, Simplenote, or even Microsoft’s own OneNote. The problem with these is that they aren’t always easy to access, or fast to load when you’re in a hurry. But Parchi is.

Microsoft’s experimental Garage team, which has been working on the app over the last five months, says it built Parchi with three main goals: it had to be quick, easy to use, and adaptive. One of the things that helps it do that is its lock screen functionality.

You can put Parchi right on your lock screen, so it’s literally just a tap away when you need to take a note, or create a list. You can then use colors to make important notes and lists stand out, and tags to make them easy to find later.

Parchi also lets you add pictures if you wish, and share your notes with contacts. It’s also smart enough to recognize phone numbers, email addresses, and URLs.

The best thing about Parchi, however, isn’t its list of features; it’s that it just gets out of your way and lets you jot down as much or as little as you like when you need to. You don’t have to add a time or a location, or anything else you don’t need — just write your note and carry on.

Parchi is completely free, and you can download it now from Google Play using the link below.
