The shortcut to making a good-looking smartphone is to shave off its bezels, and that’s exactly what Oppo appears to have done with its upcoming R7 handset, which has been pictured out in the wild ahead of its official debut.

At first glance, the R7 looks a little like a black iPhone 6 Plus; it has a long, narrow speaker grille above its display with a front-facing camera sat alongside it, and a “2.5D” display with slightly rounded edges that has proven so popular among iPhone users.

But unlike the iPhone, the R7 has an edge-to-edge display, with almost no bezel down its left and right sides. The short video below shows that display in action.

According to GSMArena, the R7 will offer an octa-core MediaTek MT6795 processor, and a 20.7-megapixel rear-facing camera, but it’s currently unclear when it will be available.
